Alphainventions

I found this new site (at least new to me) called Alphainventions. It cycles through a series of blogs that people submit, which seems to be a little addicting. The address is www.alphainventions.com. It is said that this will really increases the numbers of blog viewers, time will tell. It would be great to find other Orthodox needleworkers out there ๐Ÿ™‚

The Sound of Silence & Prayers

S-P (here) has been posting about silence, and there is an interesting discussion on his blog about this. I was going to just respond on his blog, but since I haven’t posted here for quite some time, it seemed good to do it here instead ๐Ÿ™‚

Silence…. I wish I could hear it ๐Ÿ™‚ While that was a joke, I do have tinnitus due to nerve damage which means that for the last full decade, 24 hours a day, asleep or awake, my ears are making at LEAST 3 different sounds, at different tones. (Despite that, my hearing is pretty good).

Oddly enough, at about the same time I started backing off on all of the electronic noise generators that are available. Of course, it doesn’t do us much good to set aside the electronic toys if we just fill the space with interior noise.

Silence…. it would be good to hear physical silence, and it would be much better to hear interior silence. Perhaps, someday, God willing, I will know what that INTERNAL silence sounds like.

In other news, I am preparing to have major surgery on August 19th. Please keep me in your prayers.

Issues with Comments

It does not seem to happen often, but it DOES happen. From time to time someone leaves a comment on this blog that seems to wind up being “attached” to a much earlier post. The post is generally months back so it is not like the person accidently commented on the post right before the post they intended to.

ย This has happened to at least three people on this blog, and when this happens I do not have the ability to move the comment. In at least one case this has caused me to delete a person’sย  comment. I did not recognise his name, or email address, and the comment made no logical sense in relation to any of my posts – so I deleted it.

ย So if something like this happens again, please just repost your comment. I do get notification from the blog when there is a post awaiting approval, so unless I am out of town I do get to them pretty quickly.

ย This is the end of this housekeeping post, you may return to your regularly scheduled blog ๐Ÿ™‚

Blog rating

Wheww, I guess we can all sleep tonight knowing that my blog has a G rating. The interesting thing is that it drew to my attention that the word ‘death’ appears in my blog no less than three times!

Death in a Two-Storey Universe

Fr. Stephen has a wonderful post about Death in a Two-Storey Universe – check it out! It is certainly worth reading and pondering.

Yes, it has been quite some time since my last post, but life is so full right now and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down much. This is not a bad thing ๐Ÿ™‚ I will post more as I can. Perhaps even some pictures of a new chalice cover soon!

An amazing thing!

I never cease to be amazed at how things happen, from the smallest to the greatest. One of the more recent events directly impacts this blog, so I thought it would be nice to mention it.

I had mentioned getting a camera cell phone as a way to take pics of my needlework for this blog (and for documentation purposes – I can’t actually remember what I did or HOW I did it without a picture of two).

Lo and behold, a friend of mine who happens to be a professional photographer happened to overhear my saying I would do this – and wound up giving me a digital camera that a bank gave him and his family a couple of years ago! They have never really used it – they have much nicer and far better equipment around the house as one can imagine.

ย This was very kind – and as soon as I can get some new batteries, there will be some new, and current, pictures on this blog. Be very afraid ๐Ÿ™‚ I will try and take care of the first round before I leave for tonight’s vigil service (Sts Constantine and Elena is the patronal feast for my parish), but time will tell. Right now a nap is of rather more importance ๐Ÿ™‚
