Father Roman (Bragga) endured years in prison under the communists in Romania, he has spent recent years at the Dormition of the Mother of God Orthodox Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan. This is part one of an interview in which he discussed those days, along with the now reposed Fr. George Caliciu. Some of the prisons in Romania were engineered as an experiment to force through torture and other methods to denounce everything, their faith, their love for their family, everything – indeed to destroy their very personality. I won’t post the other parts here, but it seemed good to post Part 1 here. Thanks be to God that the communists did not succeed in all cases, and we still have priests who survived Pitesti.
I know Fr. Roman personally, and he is one of the most joyful people I know. When one considers what he endured, well, the joy and love he shows to others is even more special.
