Nativity

I wanted to wish a wonderful and blessed Nativity to both people who are kind enough to read this blog 🙂 I can’t say anything better about it than the tropar for the Feast that I have pasted below:

Your Nativity O Christ our God has dawned to the world the light of wisdom, for by it those who worship the stars, were taught by a star to adore You the Sun of Righteousness, and to know You the dawn from above, O Lord, glory to You

I can’t think of anything better myself than the Nativity Troparion. However, I also love the Kontakion of the Nativity:

Today the Virgin bears Him Who is transcendent, and the earth presents the cave to Him Who is beyond reach. Angels, along with shepherds, glorify Him; the Magi make their way to Him by a star: For a new Child has been born for us, the pre-eternal God.

There’s something about “pre-eternal” that always grabs my attention….

This was actually the one I wanted to post, but for some reason, there were a couple of words I couldn’t remember…

“Pre-Eternal” certainly gets my attention to – though it makes my head hurt if I try to think about it too much – it is rather larger than my itsy-bitsy brain, but both the tropar and kontak make my heart sing 🙂

    Glorify Him!
